FREE Quilt Patterns!
New to quilting? Here are the best places to find FREE patterns...
Good morning!
Who doesn’t love free stuff?? Fabric manufacturers want to make it easy and inspiring to get sewing. Designers work really hard coming up with glorious fabric collections for us to turn into beautiful works of art.
Did you know that there’s often a free pattern that is made to go with the collection? Sometimes it’s created by the fabric designer, and sometimes an independent quilt designer like Stacey Day is hired to come up with inspirational plans so you can get your fabric out of the cupboard and onto your couch for snuggling.

Wooo do I love AGF. My favourite designers reside here and the hand on their cloth is second to none. It’s so crisp and light, making it perfect for anything you want to sew. I’m totally in love with the new Grid collection by Katarina Roccella and how gorgeous is the pattern she designed to go with it? You can find it here along with so many more amazing patterns based on their artist's collections.
Robert Kaufman
You know I like to make bags, right? Kind of, a little? Haha. RK’s site has some cool projects like this Cargo Duffle designed by Noodlehead on their site, and this cool tote made from a Kona solids panel. Tons of quilts and other projects, you are going to get lost in this site!
Moda Bake Shop
Now this one is a secret weapon for new quilters. It uses all pre-cuts, and you can see the level of difficulty noted by the number of rotary cutters. 1=easy, 2=moderate, and 3=ambitious. You can search by the type of precut you have, making it easy to use whatever you have on hand.
BONUS! Moda Love FREE Quilt Pattern
The Moda Love quilt is one of my favorites, and can be made in three different sizes using your choice between layer cake, charm squares, and mini charms! Alicia and I made one with charm squares and it hangs at the shop (Seen in the picture above). Here’s the pattern and you can search the hashtag #modalovequilt on Instagram to see over 2000 versions!
